Goji berries (Also known as Chinese wolfberry)
Goji berries grow on Common Wolfberrys, a shrub that can grow up to 4 m high. The fruits can be harvested from August to October. Goji berries are bright red to orange-yellow and have an elongated oval shape with a length from 0.5 to 1.2 cm. The name "Goji" is derived from the Chinese term "Ningxia gouqi", which means something like "Ningxia wolfberry from the region".
ORIGIN of our goji juice
The Goji Berries for our nu3 Goji Juice come from Ningxia (translated: "mild summer"), one of the most pristine and least populated regions of China. Rainfall and glacial melt from the Himalayas provide in this growing area for regular flooding of the Huang He River. From the fertile alluvial the Goji berry can draw their many valuable nutrients.

Doctor and patient should be aware of the possibility of an interaction of Vitamin K antagonists with the goji berry. The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices published a warning at the end of March 2013 about possible interactions with certain "blood thinning" (anticoagulent) pharmaceuticals (Vitamin K antagonists) such as Phenprocoumon (Marcumar) and Warfarin (Coumadin). Goji berries appear to block the breakdown of these drugs in the body, causing dangerous concentrations of the active substances to accumulate in the body. This leads to an increased risk when exposed to injury and an increased tendency to bleed. If you are taking Vitamin K antagonists, avoid preparations containing goji berries.
