Discover the diversity of our tiger nut flour
Try it: Whether in cereals or with yoghurt, in smoothies or in sauces - the fine flour gives your dishes a sweet-nutty flavour and a delightful creaminess. Complemented with a delicate vanilla note tiger nut flour is the ideal superfood for all sweet teeth. When mixed with water and sugar, in a few minutes you can have a refreshing tiger nut milk that is not only gluten but also lactose free! Or, when baking, replace some of the flour with tiger nut flour - you'll be amazed! This is what's inside the tiger nut flour: in addition to valuable vegetable fats, Chufas provide tons of fibre. This means: Already a glass of homemade valencian horchata "Horchata de chufa", provides you with a quarter of the recommended daily amount of fibre. The unique combination of ingredients makes the flour your new superfood, which is ideal even as part of a basic diet. And the best part: It can be enjoyed by absolutely everyone - people who wish to live by a gluten-free diet as well as people with nut allergies. Although the tiger nut flavour is reminiscent of almonds, tiger nuts belong to the family of the Cyperaceae. But which part of the plant is actually used? The name can be a hint: The small sprout tubers grow underground, directly at the roots.
Our tiger nuts' journey ...
... begins in the western part of the African continent. After the above-ground part of the plant has died, the roots are pulled out of the ground and separated from the pea-sized tiger nuts. Subsequently, the tubers are washed thoroughly, slowly dried in the West-African sun and then ground. In order to obtain all the valuable ingredients in the tiger nut shell, they are completely processed.
